Welcome to Anglers Guide Service, proudly based in Forks, Washington—widely known as the Steelhead Capital of the World. About our operation, everything begins with a deep respect for the rivers, the fish, and the anglers who travel here in search of unforgettable experiences. Because this region offers some of the finest fisheries in the country, we focus on delivering guided trips that combine skill, knowledge, and genuine passion for Western Washington waters.
Robert and Traci Kratzer have owned and operated Anglers Guide Service since 1987. From the very beginning, they built their business one river and one client at a time. Initially, they guided drift boat trips on many of Western Washington’s legendary steelhead rivers. However, as opportunities expanded, they ventured north to Bristol Bay, Alaska, where they worked at Mission Lodge for over 20 years. During that time, they continued refining their skills while also growing their guiding reputation.

Meanwhile, back in Washington, Anglers Guide Service continued to evolve. By adding a jet boat and a raft, Robert and Traci made it possible to accommodate anglers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. Eventually, their Alaska journey grew even larger when they founded Alaska Kingfishers on the Nushagak River in Bristol Bay. At that point, their daughters, Kaitlyn and Bailee Kratzer, joined the family business and became an integral part of daily operations. After 16 successful years, the family chose to sell the Alaska operation and refocus fully on Washington fisheries.
About us, everything begins with a deep respect for the rivers, the fish, and the anglers who travel here in search of unforgettable experiences.
Today, Robert stands as one of Washington’s premier fishing guides. Not only has he helped anglers succeed on the water, but he has also played a key role in developing techniques and tackle for several companies. Furthermore, when he is not guiding, he actively works to protect fish runs and advocate for anglers throughout the state.
Robert remains deeply involved in the fishing community through leadership roles with the following:
- Hatchery Wild Coexist
- Washington State Guides Association
- Northwest Olympic Peninsula Sportfishing Coalition
- And the Olympic Peninsula Guides Association.
Additionally, he speaks at about 10 to 20 events each year, sharing knowledge on techniques, tackle, and fisheries issues.
Outside of fishing, Robert and Traci stay active in the Forks community, they are avid hunters who spend weeks each year pursuing turkeys, deer, and elk. Ultimately, Anglers Guide Service reflects a lifetime of dedication, family values, and respect for the outdoors.
